Meeting between Masoud Pezeshkian President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Anwar Ibrahim Prime Minister of Malaysia

President Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia held a meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi exchanging views on bilateral relations and key regional and international developments.

Dr. Pezeshkian said during the meeting that Iran is making its ties with Muslim and neighboring countries more rational and robust, and stressed that security in the Middle East can only be achieved by the countries of the region. He described the expansion of relations with neighboring and brotherly nations as one of the core strategies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying our neighbors are our brothers, and we have been expanding our relations with them day by day, with these ties progressing in a more rational and robust manner with all countries.

 

Dr. Pezeshkian added that solidarity among Muslim countries is essential under current circumstances. We do not need a regional policeman; territorial integrity and regional security can only be achieved by the region's own key actors and countries.

 

Anwar Ibrahim also said during the meeting that Malaysia believes in strengthening its relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and firmly defends Iran's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

 

Anwar welcomed Putrajaya and Tehran's long-standing diplomatic relations and reaffirmed cooperation on various fronts.

 

He also called on a continuation and expansion of trade and investment cooperation and opportunities. especially in energy, agriculture, palm oil, food security, halal, technology, and higher education.
